When it came to deciding on where to have our engagement shoot, taking a trip back to where the craziness of all this wedding planning malarky began seemed like the best idea…
If you’re a regular on The Dinocorn Life then you probably know that The Unicorn proposed to me at the Natural History Museum… in the Dinosaur Gallery… by popping an engagement ring on a dinosaur tooth (talk about nailing your pitch).
Being a public venue it’s not the easiest suggestion for an engagement shoot but it’s somewhere our wonderful wedding photographer, Jeni Smith, had always wanted to shoot so we had her from the off!
We had such a fun day.
Neither I, nor The Unicorn, are particularly fond of having our picture taken, that much is obvious from the first couple of snaps – awks!
But Jeni was just wonderful. She has this way of shooting that instantly puts you in relax mode. We were both quite nervous at the start and she broke that barrier down right away.
What did it for me was about 10 minutes into the shoot, Jeni pipes up:
“you know it’s your engagement shoot guys, try and actually look like you like each other?!”
From that moment on, we knew we’d picked a winner and the nerves were gone.
Jeni’s also not the type of photographer that jumps in, tries to pose you or ask you to do things over and over again. She made us feel totally comfortable, completely embraced the geekish and silly nature of the day, and captured all of it perfectly…
